homework February 22-26,2010

This week, I am asking all students to complete the same homework option. Each student will be given a blank copy of a log. He or she may use this table or use it as a guide to create his or her own system for recording erything that he/she eats for three days. They will start keeping records on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.Keep this record in their science journal.This is due on Friday 2-26/10. We will analyze this on Friday.

Homework for 2/8-2/12/10

Weekly homework options due Friday. Pick one of the following and all reports are 1/2 to l page reports.

Option#1 Write a report of how a doctor classifies burns. Discuss the differences in first, second, and third degree burn.

Option#2 Write a report on organ and tissue transplants. Describe the difference between autograph and allograph.

Option#3 Research the causes of pain in the back of humans and treatments.

Option#4 Research the importance of sun protection of the skin with SPF sunscreen and discuss some fabrics that offer sun protection.

Option#5 write a report on the 3 simple habits that can keep your skin healthy. p. 494-493

Thursday: Quiz on Mitosis/Meiosis and cell division. Study your Venn diagram and notes you will be taking on Wednesday.
Friday: Turn in your weekly homework assignment.

homewrok for 2/1-2/5/10

Monday: select homework option
Tuesday: finish labeling your skeleton diagram at home. You will have a quiz Friday of the parts of the skeleton
Thursday: review diagram skeleton and worksheet on the parts of the bone for a quiz tomorrow.
Some of the homework options are the same as last week. Complete a different one for this week.
Option#1 Draw and label the bones of the hand.
Option#2 Draw and describe how two joints of the body move. Label as a hinge, ball-and-socket, pivot, or gliding joint.
Option#3 Describe a disease of the bone such as osteoporosis, arthritis, or bone cancer. tell about the cause, prevention, treatment, and cure. Pick one and write1/2 to 1 page report.
Option #4 tell about how to take care of your bones. Include i/2 to 1 page.
Option#5 Draw the bones and muscles in the bicep showing how they contract in each position and indicate which muscle is contracted. Refer to fig. 13 on p. 485
Option 36 Write a comparison paragraph comparing smooth muscle tissue and skeletal muscle tissue. Include whether these muscle tissues are voluntary or involuntary, where they are found and what their functions are.
Option#7 Make scientific drawing of cardiac, skeletal, and smooth muscle. Label parts of the cell.
