homework for 10/13-10/16

All options from last week are eligible for this this week. If you completed option #1create a cell model) or #7 ( create a cell mobile)you do not have to do an option this week. three new options:

option #1 Compare a cell with a factory. Explain how the job of each organelle may be compared to the job done in a certain place or by a certain machine in the factory. Write an explanation for each of the comparisons.
option #2 Write a narrative story about what it would be like to be miniaturized and travel into a cheek cell or aquatic plant cell. Explain what they might see and experience while within the cell.
option #3 Choose six organelles whose jobs are comparable to something in or around your house. Create an analogy for each of the organelles. Example: A mitochondrion in a heating system in my house because substances are broken down in it and energy is produced.
Information may be found in your textbook p. 60-67.

Wednesday and Thursday: review study guide for unit test
Friday: unit test on lessons 1-7

homework for 10-5-09

Option#1 Construct a three dimensional model of a plant or animal cell. Turn in with a key for identifying each cell and structure. You could think of it as a pizza, with the varios ingtedients representing organelles.( counts as 2 options)
Option#2 Create an advertisement to sell a cell. The ad is submitted on poster and empasizes he excellent job performed by 4 of the cells organelles.
Option#3 Write a limerick about one type ofa cell. Print or type the limerick on unlined paper so we can post it in the room. Give the limerick a title.
Option #4 Complete researach on the development of cell theory.. Who formulated it,and when did it occur? (1/2 page)

Option #5 Create a "wanted" poster for a specific type of cell. It should include a drawing of the cell with labels and functions of at least 4 of the organelles.
Option # 6 Write a one-pape paper about stem cell research.
Option#7 Prepare a mobile of a specific kind of plant or animal cell. You should use cardboard pieces, cut inot the shape of specific organelles. One side shoud contain an explanation of the organelle funtions. ( counts as 2 options)
